Official data shows that the Dominican Republic experienced a 11% increase in arrivals by air and sea in the first half of this year compared to 2023. Over the past six years, tourism has experienced a 49% expansion. Tourism Minister David Collado highlighted that 75.2% of the visitors were non-resident foreigners, showing a 9% increase from last year, while cruise ship passengers increased by 16% from 2023 and 159% from 2019.
The month of June witnessed 758,179 tourists and 165,017 cruise ship passengers, leading to a 9% year-on-year increase. By the end of 2024, the country has the potential to attract 11.5 million visitors.
